In October 2024, the 32nd ACM International Conference on Multimedia (ACM MM) was grandly held in Melbourne, Australia. Experts and scholars in the multimedia field from around the world gathered to discuss the latest research progress and technological breakthroughs. Professor Yu Li of the lab and her master’s student Shi Junjie were invited to attend the conference, presenting their team’s latest research results in the fields of multimedia and computer vision, which received high attention and appreciation from the participating experts. For Shi Junjie, participating in the conference as both a volunteer and a speaker was an important milestone in his academic journey. He shared that attending ACM MM not only provided him with a unique platform for learning and exchange, but also brought him many valuable opportunities for personal growth. As a conference volunteer, Shi Junjie participated in the organization of the conference throughout, actively assisting the participation process, and interacting closely with organizers, staff, and attendees. The volunteer experience not only enhanced his understanding of conference operations, but also allowed him to more deeply integrate into the international research community. In the oral presentation session, Shi Junjie presented his research results to top scholars worldwide for the first time, both excited and nervous. However, in the strong academic atmosphere, he gradually turned from uneasiness to confidence. The audience raised constructive feedback, which inspired him to further reflect on his research and prompted him to continue exploring and improving in future work. He said he is very grateful to the ACM MM organizers for the valuable opportunity to present his research on the international stage and expand his academic horizons in the multimedia field. Professor Yu Li expressed appreciation for the team members’ performance, believing that this ACM MM trip not only earned international peer recognition for the team’s research results, but also provided them with a valuable learning and exchange platform.
