To stimulate students’ enthusiasm for scientific research and learning, and to strengthen their understanding of cutting-edge research in the field, on December 23, more than ten DMIN Lab master’s and doctoral students, led by Professor Yu Li of the School of Electronic Information and Communications at Huazhong University of Science and Technology, were invited to visit the Human Factors Engineering Institute of Wuhan Industrial Innovation Development Research Institute for a study tour and exchange.
First, Institute Director Song Yang introduced the establishment background, development history, and future plans of the Wuhan Industrial Innovation Development Research Institute (WIDIR) and the Human Factors Engineering Institute to the DMIN faculty and students. Then, Zhou Xunzong of the Human Factors Engineering Institute gave a live introduction and demonstration of a wearable multimodal data intelligent collection bracelet to the teachers and students. The bracelet looks similar to ordinary smart bracelets and can monitor a person’s physiological state in real time. Unlike ordinary bracelets, it can also monitor a person’s emotional changes, safeguarding the life, health, and mental health of adults and adolescents. Finally, the institute’s General Manager Zhou introduced the multimodal data fusion collection platform to the students and detailed existing multimodal data collection application cases. Combining the lab’s research on visual human-computer interaction, the DMIN faculty and students held an exchange seminar with the institute team members on PPG, behavior recognition, and the use of the multimodal platform.
During this visit, the students learned about the application of human factors engineering from an industry perspective, and gained a deeper understanding of vision-based human-computer interaction research.
